Who is this?

But I might be wrong:
Here is a “lecture”
blip.tv/file/2073451/

HTML 5 video preview: (this is an screenshot of chrome on panda3d.org/video.php )

This is the source so it doesn’t get any crispier than that, but there’s some occasional deinterlacing. This is Chrome/Safari though, unfortunately Firefox will look much worse since converting to Theora will mean reencoding (I’m on it currently, so no support yet). IE9 will play at full quality (h264).

Can anybody test on Safari on mac, btw?

EDIT: Whiteboard shot, still a little hard but much better than google video.

Yes Much better.
HOWEVER - there is NO fullscreen mode on that.
I am using chrome - and I cannot go fullscreen.

I know this is a problem with Chrome not supporting html5 fullscreen yet:
w3.org/TR/html5/video.html#video

But this is really inconvenient.

So I think there should be a flash version of this somewhere else.

Seem to run just fine in Safari 4.0.5 on Snow Leopard.

To improve sound you could just extract audio track, run it through some audio filtering, and then add it back to video. I have done that for some video which was shot outside, there was some boomy sound and hiss from wind in trees. After cleaning with Cool Edit the noises were almost gone. Human voices were a bit distorted (some echoes added) but still it was much better then original and it took me just 5 minutes to remix.

I hear that in those video lectures audio noises are constant, so it should be relatively easy to clean and boost speaker’s voice.

Ah I thought of doing that but I didn’t find any free program that could do it on video directly, I was feeling lazy and wanted to avoid remuxing, I’ll take a look, thanks.

I can’t hear anything on firefox…

I know, I said I wasn’t finished with firefox support. The server is Debian and there’s no AAC support in Debian so I have to convert them locally and uploading them will take an eternity, I’ll let you know when it’s ready.

Are these videos going to be posted in the site? Instead of the current ones?

Sorry missed this long time ago.

Yeah, I’ve been kind of busy but I just finished reencoding to mp4 and ogv. I needed to re-encode the mp4s to mp4 cause the originals were deinterlaced.

I’m uploading them now but it’s a lot of GB, my upload stream isn’t very fast and ssh encryption makes it even slower. ETA: 70 hours. Will attempt the audio cleaning at a later point.

Are this videos uploaded somewhere in higher quality?

where are the cleaned up videos located??

when I go here:http://www.panda3d.org/video.php
its just one video and it seems to not work

im using chrome on ubuntu 10.04

You guys still working on this?

sounds like an excellent idea

I am also still interested in this.
