Made together with the talented @janEntikan1, Angiogenesis is our entry into the 37th edition of the PyWeek game jam, wherein it is the goal to make a game using Python within just one week. This time, the theme was “Tube”, so we made a procedural space horror runner game set in a tubular world. We managed to get three levels in and thanks to @Moguri’s new IBL features in simplepbr, we managed to get it to look quite shiny.
All models, music and some sfx/textures by @janEntikan1. Some CC0 textures and sound effects were used. Code by me.
It’s interesting. I wouldnt call it horror persé, but while playing it did give me a growing sense of unease. Unsettling. Especially later on.
It is quite shiny.
I like the rewind/reset on collision.
There’s some rough edges, like rarely being able to clip through a wall. But that was me deliberatedly making weird movements and you always have things that could be polished more in projects like these. There’s a lot of time pressure in game jams.
I played it entirely through and I enjoyed the experience.
The concept and the visual of the tunnel (especially later on) could make an interesting level in a larger game.
