Panda3d for Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope

Short version: Are there plans to provide an installer for Ubuntu 9.04 or fix the problem with getting it from synaptic? If so, any idea when?

Back story:
I just upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex to 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope. When I tried to run a functional program I had been working on, I got the error:

ImportError: No module named direct.showbase.DirectObject

Using the Synaptic package manager, I uninstalled panda3d, but when I try to reinstall it, I get the error:

Package panda3d has no available version, but exists in the database.
This typically means that the package was mentioned in a dependency and never uploaded, has been obsoleted or is not available with the contents of sources.list

Yeah.
Most likely it has to do with python2.6 - this bug will be fixed in the upcoming release.
Also, the upcoming 1.6.1 release will most likely have a jaunty installer.

Great. Is there an anticipated release date for 1.6.1?

No, but it’s just a matter of days now. I hope.
