next development release?

Hi,

I’m just wondering if panda3D is still in development - being improved… or this is it?

it’s still in development and beeing improved =)
there is a cvs version so you can always get an up-to-date version.

Hi ThomasEgi, Quick (noobish) question, when downloading a CVS version do you have to reinstall Panda to have any fixes that might’ve been made or is it just a matter of picking elements that you want and then overwriting old ones (ie. *.pyc files, *.py files etc.)

Thanks!

Liquid7800, yes, you must install and completely remove the current version of panda3d. Unless you have installed it in a non-default location and have a quick way to change the environment vars.

Oh, and you have to compile the CVS version yourself. There is no package or so.

To say it in short words - the CVS is always up to date. You can get the files from the CVS and compile Panda3D for yourself.

If you don’t want to do that, you will have to wait until enough Patches are together to say “Ok, lets create a new major Panda3D-Release!”
Thats done basically every 6 months (round about) - depending on the package maintainer.

However, normally you are also fine with the current version of Panda3D, because you most of the time you are already fine with the settings and things provided with the last/recent Panda3D-release.

  • If you need/demand bleeding edge, you will have to fight with Compilers and CVS.

It’s good to hear… thank you
