In fact, it’s a crime if you don’t talk about the development process using the Panda3D engine. I think it would be nice to have a tradition of showing progress on a monthly basis. Other forums dedicated to other engines have monthly topics to showcase the results.
It may be a crime, but if they want to jail me they’ll have to catch me first!
More seriously, I don’t know why I didn’t think earlier to post here about this project. As the devlog-number above shows, I’ve been posting it elsewhere…
You know, it might be nice to have some sort of dedicated “Show Your Progress” thread, into which we can all post and comment.
Well, it’s a great relief to know that we’ll all be able to pet the baby wing-serpent in due time – certainly an occasion to look forward to!
It looks like your project is progressing quite well in all seriousness though! I do look forward to the final release, and hope you let us know here when the day comes.
Love the video. The gameplay reminds me a bit of Minishoot’ Adventures, as another example of a ship-based isometric metroidvania that I thoroughly enjoyed.
I saw a bit of gameplay from Minishoot Adventures–definitely similar in some respects, I’d say! (In fact, seeing that gameplay inspired me to likewise have my game’s ship tilt a little on turning!)
Minor update: In putting together this thread, I noticed that an issue had been introduced in the game’s lighting–specifically, the ground was being overlit in some dimmer regions.
I am technically on holiday, but that was bothering me, so I spent part of a day putting in a fix. (Although I have yet to propagate the fix beyond the major shader in which I implemented it. For that I intend to wait until after my holiday!)
Here’s an updated version of one of the above screenshots:
With my holiday done, I’ve applied the above fix to further shaders–and somewhat “fixed the fix”, too, for that matter. As well as made a few other changes!
What’s more, “Moons in Crystal” now has contact-damage!
(I don’t have footage of that change on YouTube, so see the following BlueSky post for that!)
