Maya2egg2009 fails to work after installing 3ds

I’ve been working with Panda3d for quite some time now. Up till recently, I’ve had no problems using maya2egg2009 to convert my models into egg, until I installed 3dmax (the latest version). Upon installing it, cmd gives this message whenever I try to convert.

Initializing Maya.
tree3.mb : Unexpected Internal Failure
:maya:mayaegg: Unable to read tree3.mb
Errors in conversion.

The package came with this program called Turbo Squid Tentacles. I don’t know if this affects how everything works.

Any ideas how I can fix it?

I’m getting the same error after a fresh install of both maya 2009 and panda 1.6.2. If someone has an idea how to solve this, it would be a huge help to me. I’m using windows XP, for your reference.

I’m getting the same problem here ( that’s still work with maya2egg2008 and maya 2008)

I was able to get around it by installing the mel script exporter in 2009.
