Can my game be global

i just want to know if my online game can be global using the Datagram Protocol of p3d instead of the socket things
i tried searching and found i need to enable port forwarding to make a game online globally and not locally
i think p3d implemented its own Datagram Protocol instead of telling us to use socket, so i might be able to make a real online game without port forwarding
