Using a separate Python install

I have a successful installation of Panda3D, have run the demos and executed some of the tutorials. I also have Poser7 which uses python in its environment. Both programs work on their own with their internal python environments.

I am studying python and want to install version 2.5.2 as a standalone environment so I can use some of the additional extensions and libraries.

Should I keep this separate from Panda3d or can I point Panda3d to my new python environment?

Also, is there an FAQ on how to point Panda3D to the new version of Python?

i recommend just using panda3d’s python as the default. Some differences in build could cause panda3d not function with the “new” version of python.
