I just found out Panda has SSAO, but after reading the old post on its development, I see that it is based open the Crytek method.
There is a post on GameDev.net showing what seems a much better way to do it.

They even have some shader code.
Maybe take a look?
nice find. looks quite promising. i wont say i’ll integrate it, but if i find sime spare time (which really is ultra-rare these days) i may give it a try.
I dont know much about shaders, but I will try to get his code working in Panda.
