[SOLVED]Can't get simple demo program to build with ppackage

EDIT: I solved it. See the last post

I am using panda3d 1.9.2 on windows 8.1.

My main.py:

import wx

class MyFrame(wx.Frame):
	def __init__(self, parent, title):
		wx.Frame.__init__(self, parent, title=title, size=(200,100))
		self.control = wx.TextCtrl(self, style=wx.TE_MULTILINE)
		self.Show(True)

app = wx.App(False)
frame = MyFrame(None, 'Small editor')
app.MainLoop()

My release.pdef:

import sys
sys.path.insert(0,'')
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1"] # so direct can be found
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\Lib"]
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\Lib\site-packages"]
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\libs"]
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\DLLs"]

class APP(p3d):
    require('wx', 'panda3d')
    config(
        version='0.1',
        display_name = 'Tester',
        platform_specific = True,
        )

    mainModule('main')

I build .p3d with:

ppackage -i ..\Release release.pdef

and I run .p3d with

panda3d.exe app.p3d

which gives this output:

:AppRunner: Total Panda3D disk space used: 444 MB
:AppRunner: Configured max usage is: 2048 MB

ImportError: wx: No module named aliases
Failure on startup.

When I try to include a line

module('aliases',required=True)

it failes to build to .p3d. I haven’t been able to find a python module named aliases. I looked in C:\Panda3d-1.9.2\python\Lib\site-packages\wx-2.8-msw-unicode and there are variables names aliases being used

So I try using Panda3d-1.8.1 instead.

Here is my main.py

import sys
import wx

print "Hello"
sys.exit()

My release.pdef:

import sys
sys.path.insert(0,'')
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1"] # so direct can be found
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\Lib"]
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\Lib\site-packages"]
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\libs"]
sys.path+=[r"C:\Panda3D-1.8.1\python\DLLs"]

class base_app(p3d):
    require('wx', 'panda3d')
    config(
        version='0.1',
        display_name = 'Tester2',
        platform_specific = True,
        )

    mainModule('main')

I build with

ppackage release.pdef

which gives the output:

:AppRunner: Total Panda3D disk space used: 556 MB

:Packager: Reading release.pdef

When I run

multify -t -f base_app.0.1.win32.p3d

I get

main.pyo
p3d_info.xml

When I take out the

import wx

from my main.py, I can build and run just fine.

I have checked the contents of http://runtime.panda3d.org/wx/cmu_1.8/win32/, which seems to show there is an appropriate build for wx.

In my pdef file I then added the line

for x in sys.path: print x

which ends up printing

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Panda3D\hosts\runtime.panda3d.org_0f5faf88846080ae\panda3d\cmu_1.8
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Panda3D\hosts\runtime.panda3d.org_0f5faf88846080ae\egg\cmu_1.8
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Panda3D\hosts\runtime.panda3d.org_0f5faf88846080ae\panda3d\cmu_1.8
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Panda3D\hosts\runtime.panda3d.org_0f5faf88846080ae\panda3d\cmu_1.8\python27.zip

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Panda3D\hosts\runtime.panda3d.org_0f5faf88846080ae\panda3d\cmu_1.8
/c/Users/<username>/Desktop/<Folder>/practice/pdef/p3d-1.8

So, figuring it just wasn’t finding the wx package, in the pdef file I change

require('wx')

into

require('wx', host=r'file:\\\C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Panda3D\hosts\runtime.panda3d.org_0f5faf88846080ae\wx\cmu_1.8')

and I get the output

I find a contents.xml in the root of that package directory:

Any ideas?

I tried copying the wx folder into my source directory and calling

module('wx')

. I call ppackage on it and it generates .p3d just fine:

I got it working! With panda3d 1.8.1 that is. At first I though I had really hacked it together, but then it turns out that I needed to also incorporate morepy

So, basically with

require('panda3d', 'wx')

it didn’t work, but when I did

require('morepy', 'panda3d', 'wx')

it worked just fine.

Ayhow, here’s it my .pdef file:

r=['morepy', 'panda3d', 'wx']

class base(p3d):
    require(*r)

    config(
        version='0.0.1',
        display_name = 'base',
        platform_specific = True,
        )

    mainModule('main')
