Python 2.7.1

2.7.1 is the last version of Panda 2. If you go to python.org, you can’t even download previous versions of Python. I understand there are significant issues moving to Python 3.x, but it makes a lot of sense to make Python 2.7.1 the official, semi-permanent Python version for Panda3D. Is there any intention to, thoughts about, philosophical stances regarding, or general progress – moving this direction?

Actually you can download versions of Python going back more than 10 years.

It’s probably not a good idea to switch in the middle of a release series. Perhaps for 1.8.0.
