Panda3D 1.3.2 on Ubuntu 7.04 (solved)

ok so i try it

is there any other conflict besides /usr/bin/dcparse?

if not, here’s another way to install the dapper package:

sudo dpkg -i --force-all panda3d_1.3.2-ubuntudapper_i386.deb

worked right off the bat. the only warning it threw was about dcparse, so hopefully everything will be all right. although i guess i could see this leading to all manner of problems later during upgrades …

is “dcparse” in panda the same thing as dcparse in dcraw - a raw image format reader? or is it actually something else just with the same name?

Panda’s dcparse is a completely unrelated program with the same name–it’s used to parse and check the syntax of a dc file, which supports Panda’s DistributedObject system.

Since almost no one uses the DistributedObject system outside of us in the VR Studio, you really don’t need Panda’s dcparse program at all.
