more shadow assistance

Hello all, I am trying to have my objects cast shadows on my world, however when I initiate a shadow camera, all lighting that was shining on my objects seems to have disappeared. i have no idea what each shader input does and why i am required to have certain ones for render (‘ambient’, ‘texDisable’, etc).

Also, when I increase the film size of my orthographic lens associated with the shadow camera, the shadow quality decreases dramatically or even disappears. this also happens when i scale the whole shadow camera. i am extremely confused and have a headache… :’(

I would really appreciate advice from someone who knows more than I do.

Er, what shadow implementation are you using? The one from the sample programs? The 1.7.0 implementation?
