Maya 8.5 export error

Hi,
I wanted to test to export a simple object as an egg file. However, the panda exporter freezes after I hit export button. It just includes a torus surface. What can be the problem?

Ok I was able to export it. However, now it does not show up in the scene in a python program although I add it as explained in the manual. One more question, all the egg files in models folder has a pz extension, but mine does not. Can it be the problem?

I could not figure out but it does not show up in the previewnor in the program.

I think the export went fine, its probably just that panda can’t show nurbs based geometry. I believe there is an argument in the exporter to turn nurbs based geometry to become a mesh. Try “maya2egg85 -h” to get all the options available for the exporter. The .egg.pz extension doesn’t really matter, .pz files are just files that have been compressed with the panda compressor.

There’s the egg-qtess tool that can tesselate NURBS surface.

Use “egg-qtess -h” on the commandline to list the available options.

Or just add “-p” to the maya2egg line to get out polygons instead of NURBS.
