One question: what did you use for the texture blending on the terrain?

EXTREMELY good question since i’m having trouble with that when i’m creating my terrains. :frowning:

We used , heightfield tesselator and multitexturing with shader, i dont know exactly, its our 3d artist who make that in place ^^

Just curious, what app did you use to make terrain itself ?

looks like a nice start. what about networking? how many players are supported , whats about traffic per player and security?

The amount of players depends of the pc who host the server, we hadn’t made test with lot of player because we are rewriting the networking code with the panda network. About the sécurity the player made something (move etc…) the server verify if its true if not he send back the true result.

are you using the distributed nodes stuff or just the pandas network interface to pack your data? … i mean handling huge amount of players is fairly tricky. could help you a little if you run into trouble with many players :slight_smile: lemme know if you need me. best chance is the panda irc channel

Thanks for your help, for now we’re documenting about the panda networking, it’s not yet implemented, but if we get in trouble i’ll probably go find help ^^

I’m the 3D artist, I have started practicing 3D 2 years ago, start to learn with 3ds studio included tutorials and different on line tutorials (like Joan of arc) .

about rigging I have learned how to make an efficient rig by watching lot of dvds on the subject, like the one on 3Dtotal called “eva wild” and on gnomonwork shop “ogre rigging”.

and for the texturing, humm well, no special learning… it has seams to me that the method I used could be the best way to get a good texture, but I am open to any advise :wink:

Is this THE Herdelia project that had (some times ago ) a proposal for an innovative combat system where you had an “Attack/Defense” Slider that you move in “real time” to balance between your offense and defense capacities ?

Hmm… the start page says Panda3D Projects is still running in closed beta, and new users are not allowed. Any forecast possible when this phase will be over? I’m still interested.
