can't install on Linux Mint

I can’t get Panda installed on Linux Mint.
I tried both the latest Ubuntu and Debian packages.
Always complains about libavcodec52, which I can’t find anywhere.

Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libavcodec52 (>= 4:0.5.1-1)|libavcodec-extra-52 (>= 4:0.5.1-1)

Its been a month now…

Install the right package for the version of Ubuntu that your distribution is based on.

Search the forums for the error, you’ll find countless of threads describing the same issue, with solutions.

Does this mean we have to use a buildbot version for now?

Yes, or use one of the workarounds that have previously been described on the forums.

I couldn’t find those.

Perhaps you can use one of the packages on this page.

perhaps you made the same mistake as i made.
i use ubuntu 11.10 first i downloaded the panda3d 1.7.2
deb package ,but for ububntu 11.10 (oneric) panda3d 1.8
has got a deb package .download it and double click it will automatically install with the software centre.

make sure u r online while installing.
